Aerial Silks is a strength and flexibility discipline performed on suspended fabric. Students learn to climb, wrap, and perform controlled movements using two lengths of fabric hung from a rigging point. No! You will build strength as you learn. We start with ground work and basic climbs that develop upper body and core strength progressively. Many of our Gold Coast students are surprised by how quickly their strength improves through regular aerial silks practice at our Southport studio.
Yes! You control how high you go. Many students start close to the ground and gradually build confidence over multiple sessions. There is absolutely no pressure to go higher than you feel comfortable with. Our Southport instructors are experienced in supporting students through height anxiety, and many Gold Coast students who started with a fear of heights are now comfortable performing at full height.
Possibly. Silks can cause friction marks as you are learning proper technique. They fade quickly and are part of the process. As your technique improves and your skin toughens, friction marks become less common. This is a normal part of learning aerial silks and is experienced by beginners at every Gold Coast aerial studio.
Climbing is taught progressively. We start with footlocks and wraps that do not require upper body strength.
